I will admit: it was cute and Dev definitely leaves a big shoes to fill...
...but I have no patience for teenage angst anymore. It just makes me happy I do not have any teenagers around me daily 🙃
Also, I can't quite understand why author decided to use 'America' instead of 'USA / States / name of American city' EVERYTIME they referred to the USA. Each. Single. Time. And they talked about America a lot. Idk, it just sounds to me very.. formal, presumptuous and weird.

Hermes is hilarious.
This Hades has only one flaw - he is clearly an alcoholic. Apart from having glass of whiskey in almost every scene, he might be my fav version of Hades in all of retellings I've read so far.
This version of Persephone tho? I can't stand. She is lacking everything and is just annoying me. I hope for character development, otherwise I will flip.

Like with first books I prefer Hades pov and I think it would be way better if whole thing was one series instead of two. Jumping between two books wasn't really problematic (just like with first books) but what I hate is doubled chapters.
And frankly; doubled dialogues is just lazy writing. There were chapters almost word to word in either books. C'mon, have some respect for your readers!

Additionally, as much as I appreciate a good smut, I think it was too much and it did not bring anything to the story other than adding extra pages. And, again, most of spicy chapters were doubled. Reading the same smut twice, chapter after chapter, is not a vibe.
ATOR - meh, if I read it on it own it would probably be dnf
AGOR - eh, but triple H is my fav (Hades, Hermes & Hecate 4ever)

Will finish the series because A) I am queen of trash and B) Hades is just *chef's kiss*, but it will be most likely reading without a joy.

I laughed, I cried, I loved absolutely every page. Don't get me start at Lou, he *almost* made me feel like I wanna have kids. Precious peanut.
Single parent trope (even tho it almost always is among the same lines and plots) is my undoing, that I will never understand, and I ate it, like always.

I'm glad I am off work because I was barely able to put this one down. I still think it is not perfect but maybe this imperfection makes it this much better. And also, now I want my own dragon more than ever 😤

I stand by Rebecca Yarros' being my top 3 authors in the contemporary/military novels. I guess I have to also add romantasy to this equation.

This definitely hasn't been perfect, let me start with what's bugging me:
1. Extra chapters added to the deluxe edition MONTHS after its been originally published. I appreciate they were just shared with the readers out of charge now but I can't help but feel it's been unfair and very much marketing rush to milk the fans.
2. Similarly to my beloved Divergent series (or really any fantasy series that includes groups and challenges)
3. Amount of "retorting"

BUT
It's also filled with amazing banter, action and nerdy characters. I absolutely love world building (especially when Violet is explaining) and Goldie is just goldie.

I am putting this one on my fav fantasy shelf right next to the Bridge Kingdom and cannot wait for my parcel with Iron Flame to arrive.
